Borovets is only 8 km far from hotel Sonata and is also the most preferred winter resort by the citizens of our capital Sofia. It is situated at 1350m altitude on the north side of Rila mountain. It is only 68 km far from Sofia, 83 km from Blagoevgrad and125 km from Plovdiv.. The closest city is Samokov,9km. away.

The climate in the resort is moderate and the winter is mild, but with a lot of snow. The average temperature in January – the coldest month, is about 4,8 °C. The ski season usually starts at mid-December and ends at April.

The resort offers perfect conditions for mountain tourism and sports: alpine skiing, snowboard, ski-running, mountain biking, etc. At ski center Markudzhik, during the mid-season the snow reaches 2m depth, which gives the more adventurous people the exceptional opportunity for extreme alpine skiing and snowboarding.

Nearby the hotel, there are many landmarks, mountains, rivers, springs, forests, parks, etc. They offer an exceptional diversity and perfect conditions for sports, walks and many other activities throughout the whole year. National park “Rila”is really close to the hotel and is also one of the three biggest national parks in Bulgaria.
